How to curl extremely short hair?

My hair is very short, but i still want to curl it. i recently brought world of curls gel and i am not sure if it works. in what direction should i comb my hair and how do get curls?How to curl extremely short hair?
Is your hair naturally curly, or do you have the z-pattern hair type? If your hair strands form the z-pattern then nothing can make it curl except a texturizer like S-curl. Also, if your hair is straight when it's short then you have to let it grow out some before it starts curling. If your hair is naturally curly then it'll curl on it's own with the right amount of moisture, or you can use gels, cream moisturizers, or even curl activator (spray, gel, or cream depending on your own hair texture) to define your curl. I use creams because they work best on my hair. If you're using gel then put the gel in your hair and it'll either curl or you can finger style it into a curl pattern.
