Is there a difference between cats with short hair vs medium hair (other than length)?

I am looking up kittens/cats at adoption agency websites and they are described as having short or medium hair. Is there more to that description than meets the eye?Is there a difference between cats with short hair vs medium hair (other than length)?

No, not really. Medium haired cats may have more hairball issues than short haired cats, but my short haired cat grooms a lot. You will probably have more hair in your home with a medium hair cat and there is a chance you could get a medium haired cat that matts (some do most don't) and in that case the cat would need to be brushed daily or shaved. The hair does not effect there personality.
If they have short hair, they're young. If they have long hair they're about 3 years old.
Yes there is a difference. Short haired cats are easier to groom. Long haired cats need grooming daily. I have 2 long haired cats, persians and grooming daily is a must. With a short haired cat, I have 1, grooming is only needed weekly.
Nope, I have two brother cats. One has short hair. One has medium hair. They have individual personalities but it has nothing to do with their hair length. My short haired cat gets hairballs and sheds a lot. My medium haired cat hasn't gotten one hairball to date and barely sheds. Shedding level seems to vary from cat to cat, not with length of hair.
all cats have differant pesonalities like people. if thats what you meen. but long haired cats do tend to get more hair balls and matting in there fur. thats about it.

No, there is no difference except for the hair length. Just as there are long and short hair dogs, and people for that matter. A matter of preference. I have always loved long hairs myself.

The cats with a long hair needs more cares and often are ill.But usually they are very beautiful and intelligent.Cats are like the people,they have different characters,likes and disslikes.But need a good attention and more time to be with the animal.And remember,pls,each animal needs a fresh air and a sun and cannot live closen inside home forever.


If you want your cat to be not ill but healthy,pls, give it to eat just the food which you eat alone,not cats food.Cats food makes them to live shorter life and suffering of lot deseases.Believe me,I have a big pactice with cats.My catsare 13.
You should be aware that the longer the hair, the more shedding you will have to deal with. That's why the ads specify.
