Why is it that men wear short hair whereas women wear long hair?

How did the cultural norm become such that men are supposed to have short hair whereas women wear long hair. I know that there are exceptions to this norm, but how did this become a socially accepted norm.Why is it that men wear short hair whereas women wear long hair?
because girls like to dress up, and we like to be able to do stuff with our hair to feel pretty, where as guys don't feel the need to feel pretty but manly.Why is it that men wear short hair whereas women wear long hair?

yah, I wonder that too and I hate guys who like gals with long hair, why must gals keep long hair???!! Why can't it be the other way round???
