Do military girls need to have short hair during bootcamp?

or can they keep their long hair and just put it in a bun?Do military girls need to have short hair during bootcamp?
only the Navy requires it to be cut. all other Branches allow you to secure it neatly.Do military girls need to have short hair during bootcamp?
depends on branch. I joined the army and prior to going cut all of my hair off. it was such a hassle. I was always having to use bobby pins to make sure it stayed out of my face, cut it often to make sure it didn't touch my collar, etc. the girls who had kept their hair longer had it much easier, in my opinion. i usually french braided it for them and they just twisted it into a bun. And after hours when not in uniform they still had their hair. I vote buns.
Thanks for asking this question! My hair is already short (Growing out from a pixie cut). If I can't get it into a ponytail by the time I leave for basic in January, I'm just going to hack it all off and keep it super short.

There are several advantages to short hair, too. Shorter shower time, and it won't get in your eyes during PT.
You are correct. There is specific way to tie the bun. Women can keep their hair long as long as it above the collar. The forehead, face, neck and ears must be clear of all hair. No stragglers

I have been retired for several years and quoting from my aging memory. So this may not be entirely accurate. Plus I'm a male.
I was in the Army and they did not let us cut it all off. Said you have to maintain a feminine apperance Nice!. We just had to pin it up, bind it up nice and high, or in a bun. Short hair was ok, but....pain in the butt bc Nothing can touch your shoulders, so it was actually easier NOT to have short hair, as it would tend to always be sititing on the shoulders and we got in trouble for that!
The Navy requires women to cut their hair to the collar:

Will I have to cut my hair?

Yes, the Navy does have grooming standards. While in Boot camp Males will get a buzz cut. Women鈥檚 hair will be cut to the bottom of the collar of the uniform.
You can put it in a bun or a braid or a pony tail as long as it does not go below the collar. and does not prohibit the proper wear of the beret.

That's got it all. Basically, no, you don't have to have short hair as long as it's within regulations when it's worn up.
Air Force can keep their hair long. Mine was down to the middle of my back and yes I put it up every day while in uniform.
yes
