I had really long hair and i would curl it with gel and dry it with a diffuser and it would look really good! But then i cut my hair to my shoulders and when i try to curl it and diffuse it, it just poofs and sticks out! I don't know how to make it look good! Does anyone have any ideas for me? im getting tired of wearing my hair straight! Thanks for the help!! What is the best mousse/gel to curl short hair with?
Ooo, I know the feeling ! It can look like poodle like if not properly taken care of. Your stylist should have warned you that it would ';curl'; up if you went short creating more volume. Grow it out a little, so that it isn't as heavy. In the meantime , try the following ....
1) Ouidad products (pronounced ';We-dad';) , is specifically for curly hair. Its a bit pricy , but oh so good for your curly locks. I don't think you can buy it at anywhere but online . Visit the website for more info: http://www.ouidad.com/
2) Try a little bit of mousse quarter size for all your hair and spritz with a spray gel ..Redken has a good one. Or, use a mixture of mousse gel and a little water ... so you don't get that crunchy curl.
3) Do not use a lot of conditioner, it will weigh your hair down on the bottom and won't work well with the other products. Condition only on the ends of your hair. Rinse with cold water... it really helps!
4) After shampooing while you are still in the shower, flip your head over (this should be the last step in the shower so you can turn off the water), run your fingers through your hair starting from the back moving to the scalp. Be sure to do underneath too starting by your forehead. Then, ever so lightly scrunch JUST the ends of your hair ..up to where the conditioner was applied. Finally, flip your hair back (this is why you do it in the shower ... water flies everywhere). When you get out apply product directly within a few minutes.
5) If diffusing doesn't work, try wrapping your hair in a towel after you get out of the shower but before you put in product. Do this for no more than 5 minutes, its just to take out the dampness and naturally coil your curls, then carefully add product...hopefully you'll see what I mean.
Good luck! Report back the results.
I wish I could draw pictures for you ... it would be so much easier!
Much like my avatar, I rock a hat when I have bad hair days. :)
