Of course you can trim any dog short, but it still won't give you the same appearance as a smooth coat. The hair will tend to stick up rather than along the body, giving your dog the appearance of having a crew cut.Can you trim long hair Chihuahua and make them look like short hair ones?
You can cut a long hair Chihuahua's hair. I would use a trimmer instead of a scissors. That way the hair will even and you wont have to worry about cutting her. I think dogs like to have different hair for awhile. It will also be nice and cool during the summer-just make sure it doesn't get too short or you could have a sunburned dog-ouch. I don't really know how long it would take to grow back, but they do shed so much so I don't think it would take over 6 months-just a guess though.
