I don't often see women who are in their 50's and 60's, and even 40's sometimes with long hair. They usually have short hair styles.
Is shorter hair thought to be mature? Why do many older women have short hair?
as one get's older.. shorter hair does look more appealing to mature females.. even the male folk do that... it's also less of a bother...
less maintenance, less trouble to work with and doesn't get in one's eyes....
again it looks much better.. in most cases.
another popular reason is.. with age, hair grows coarse and brittle... thus there's more breakage... again, shorter looks much better when this issue with hair texture occurs. among other reasons such as hair thinning out and spotty grow in hair. Why do many older women have short hair?
To answer the question of why middle-aged women have short hair, the most common excuse is, ';I don't have time for long hair'; though in reality, taking care of long hair doesn't have to be a challenge. (It's their excuse for, ';I just want to wash my hair, dry it, and be done with it.'; Though my own mother (in her fifties now) has no problems with her shoulder length hair.)
They think their hair needs to be in some sort of style, so to save time, they cut it into a short style.
because short hair looks better on them than long hair.
my mum has short hair and looks really hot, but once tried on a long wig and looked absolutely horrible.
and i think most older women with long hair look kind of weird. of course there are exceptions, like older women with beautiful skin and complexions, and dark skinned women.
It's easier to take care of and manage than short hair.
Less hair to dye if they dye gray hair.
Your hair thins as you grow older, it breaks easier, making harder to grow long hair. Plus fine thin hair usually doesn't look good.
More versatile hair styles.
They think it looks better than longer hair.
I think it might have to do with if you color your hair as you get older and more grey it is harder to keep up on long hair. Also if they have grey hair that is short, it looks nicer than long grey hair at least that is what I think anyway.
Shorter hair is easily maintained. I think when you get a certain age, the quality %26amp; thickness of your hair deteriorate, Short hair hides this defect to an extent. Plus a LOT more older women wear wigs than you think. and Shorter are easier in that aspect too.
sometimes older women find it easier to manage because as you age your hair gets coarser, also some older women have arthritis and long hair is too hard to manage for them
I think short hair is stylish on many women.
because then they don't have to take as much time on it so don't cut your hair short like boy cut it's not more mature mature is when you hair is a cut a little below your ears it show's a bussiness/smart look
Shorter hair for many mature women makes them look younger. This is majortity but not all older women look younger with short hair/ long hair doesnt make them older.
I think as you get older, dealing with long hair is such a hassle. Plus, even women experience thinning hair as they age.
Me, I've always had short hair in my adulthood.
In my opinion I believe older women cut their hair short to present maturity and so they won't be mistaken for a young girl. Long hair takes to much time to fix anyways...
Yes. It's a maturity thing. After a certain age, women just don't keep long hair. When women get older their hair doesn't keep the same luster and health it did when they were young.
I guess you can say that...
But I think it's because it's more sophistocated and classy.
Actually, it's easier to maintain.
Some had to cut their hair to look professional.
lazy old women
My mom does. shes had short hair since her 20's. she looks great.
I don't know exactly why they do it, but it looks good.
low maintenance
when they are that old, the lack of estrogen causes them to lose their hair.
