I would say no to the jack Russel. They can be very yappy and can snip at kids. My neighbors dog is a Jack Russel and is not very nice to the neighborhood kids.
Bulldogs on the other hand love water. They are very friendly and loving and are really good with kids. If you don't know what a English Bulldog is it is the dog that rides on the skate board on Rob and Big and Rob's Fantasy Factory
