What are you talking about there are plenty of anime series out there that have short haired main characters o.o
Do you mean a female character or a male one?Are there any anime where the main character has short hair?
An example of a female anime character with short hair: Haruhi Suzumiya from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
Male Anime character with partly short hair: Lelouch from Code Geass.
The reason that alot of main characters in Anime have long hair is because when most people picture Anime, they picture somebody with long hair, its kind of like a stereo type placed on Anime.
There are animes where the main character has short hair.
Ouran High School Host Club, for example, has a main character (Haruhi) who has short hair. In fact, it's like the whole focal point of the show, because she has to pretend she's a guy. ^_^
And... don't like, Ichigo from Bleach and Naruto from Naruto (heheh) have short hair?
