Why do men usually have short hair while women have long hair?

I rebelled against this and I grew my hair semi-long and I like it. I don't really like short hair.

Well i dont really know but honestly to give you better advice id re ask this question in say the society and cultures and anthropolgy section. I was wondering the smae thing and i think that they might give a little bit better advice. I think this is the where teenagers wanna know what color to die their hair :) by the way the reason i was here is cause i just looked up that question.
Western culture says that long hair is pretty and feminine and short hair is masculine. People living in Western culture typically adhere to these standards and often judge beauty by it. If we lived in other cultures, women with veils might be hot.
Because women associate long hair with strength and quality. While we are able to do more with it and style it different ways. Men feel the shorter it is the less they have to do.
Girls hair is longer because of there gender if we all had short hair we would all kindy look the same its meant for boys to have short hair but some boys have long hair like me.
longer hair is feminine, shorter hair is more masculine. well, thats what i think!
It is just how society views how a gender should look like but I have long hair too (to my shoulders).
