Can anyone tell me how to get the asian short hair spike look?

Hi, I have baby fine hair and was wondering if I could spike it like all asian males seem to do in a natural way? Not the punk spiking or anything, just a normal spike. Hair gels seem to be too heavy for my hair, and hairspray seems the best. Is it possible for me to do it? And if so, please be specific in the styling instructions, as to how to do it, exactly. When at the hair dressers ask the hairdressers how to get the look, im sure its a probably a style of cut, then tell them your worrys about it such as your hair being to fine and they will tell you how to take care of it.
